Litecoin has spent years as a reliable payments layer — fast block times, deep liquidity, and a community that values working software over hype. LitVM is the attempt to give that same chain a programmable layer: an EVM-compatible rollup that settles back to Litecoin, with a native gas token (zkLTC) instead of forcing users through a separate bridge token on day one.
What LitVM actually is
LitVM is an Arbitrum Orbit stack rollup hosted on Caldera, with proving from Succinct and sequencing from Espresso in the published architecture. In plain terms: smart contracts written for Ethereum-style tooling (Solidity, Foundry, Hardhat) can deploy to LitVM, while the security and economic anchor remain tied to Litecoin.
That matters for builders who already know the EVM but want access to Litecoin's user base and liquidity. It also matters for users who want L2 apps without leaving the LTC ecosystem they already hold.
LiteForge testnet today
LiteForge is LitVM's public testnet — chain ID 4441, Shanghai EVM, live on Caldera infrastructure. The LiteForge explorer shows real usage: hundreds of millions of transactions, a growing address base, and dozens of apps mirrored in the official testnet directory.
Testnet is where contracts get battle-tested before mainnet. LitVM Watch tracks LiteForge pulse data independently; mainnet readiness is tracked separately on the homepage because the two phases answer different questions.
What to watch for at mainnet
Mainnet is not live at the time of writing. When it ships, expect published RPC endpoints, a production explorer, and updated bridge documentation — none of which should be guessed from testnet parameters. This site flips its masthead automatically when a configured mainnet RPC answers eth_chainId with something other than LiteForge's 4441.
Until then, treat LiteForge as the ground truth for "what works today" and the readiness tracker for "what is still outstanding before launch."
